Knowing You: Through Creation

"The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above proclaims his handiwork." Psalm 19:1

My heart's greatest desire
Is to know You, Lord
The depth of who You are
To be fully known by You
The apple of Your eye

My journey of knowing begins
By recognizing You're Creator of ALL
You lovingly breathed Your life into us
Though we are but fragile and small

You've commanded grains of sand
To hold fast the crashing waves
I imagine Your beaming smile
As You tossed the sun high
And after releasing the rain

I wonder at Your delight
When the buds began to bloom
Did you leap for joy in Your Spirit
When magnificent creatures filled the ocean's room

Ceaselessly the world spins in orbit
With perfection of Your design
Allowing seasons to dance in step
A brilliant symphony divine

My awe in Your creation
As I trek across this land
Cannot be contained upon this page
Yet it is the beginning of knowing
You—
The Great I AM

Pause and Wonder

As you look at creation today, how has God made Himself known to you?

Thank you for reading.

This poem is the first in a series called "Knowing You", born from my own journey of longing to know God more deeply. My hope is that these reflections will invite you to pause, wonder, and discover Him through the many ways He reveals Himself and how we come to know Him.
